My family's old computer (and first, back in '95) was a Macintosh Performa 630CD. Well no one has used it for years except for one time i was at my parents' house and busted it out to play Castles II Siege and Conquest, at which time i also upgraded the OS to the latest version of System 7.5. Anyway, I was hoping to find a good home for it since it has sentimental value and i hate to see anything go way of the trash. If i had my own space and time for it i surely could find a use for it, but my life is transitory for now, and who knows for how long.

So, is there any interest out there for this computer? Should I be able to find anyone interested in taking it off my hands who would take care of it/use it? What would be the best route to finding someone for this? Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would post a pic except the computer is at my parents' house. The computer itself has upgraded RAM, 96 Megs. I bought an ethernet card for it off ebay but never got the computer networked, either because i had no idea how to set it up or possibly the card is broken, but i think that would be weird.

I also have: a Stylewriter II printer for it, a 28.8 and a 56K modem, monitor, keyboard, mouse, a couple games and programs either on the computer or on cd, worth noting is the aforementioned Castles II, a couple disks of a bunch of games (free and shareware and demos), not exactly sure what else or if that is it...

hope to hear from someone 'round here!

Welcome to the forum!  That Performa sounds pretty cool.  I usually accept donations of old computer hardware, which you can read about here:

I'd love to adopt your Performa, although I'm not sure I can afford to pay shipping on any computers right now.  Somebody out there should be interested.

oh cool! Thanks for the responses! i am happy to hear that people are into this computer as much as i am! now i just need to figure out the best way to hook up with someone (hopefully in MA) who would want it. Shipping it would obviously be a huuuge pain.

on the topic of the performas, anyone see some of the old commercials on the internet? they're a real trip.
