Well not technically ANY rom... but you can download pirated VC games as well as custom VC games (with roms injected). You can also install homebrew software (EMULATORS!!!). IMHO I say the games alone are worth the mod as they got for about $60 in store and some people just can't afford that. *cough*

Oh come on, just buy the games.  Rent them first if you're worried about whether they suck or not.  If you get into the rental, buy the game and you'll have it.  If they're too expensive, then tough luck -- wait until they go on clearance.

to be honest... i have no problem buying games that i enjoy, but even then i refuse to use the original disc as to keep it in good condition. I hate when I buy a game, then it gets damaged somehow and i have no other solution but to buy the game again (Final Fantasy 7... im on my 5th copy) Thats why i am such a supporter in console mods.

You must treat your games pretty badly if that's a major problem.  Even with games I play frequently, all are in near mint condition.  Just remember to put them back in their cases when they're done, and put the cases on a shelf instead of on the floor. Smiley

Uhhh, UMDs are flimsy pieces of crap, otherwise they wouldn't make replacement cases for them.

Ok, I've split this topic.

Now, to make it on-topic for this section, let's talk about what we can go to restore damaged CDs, DVDs, etc.  I rememeber that there are devices to "sand" them down to make them smooth again and even out the scratches.  Has anyone ever tried that?

I also remember an old trick with toothpaste and a cloth, which will supposedly "polish" the scratches away, as toothpaste is a micro-abrasive.

Toothpaste works, as does peanut butter. But these don't work to a level that makes me satisfied.

If anyone has a reliable way of repairing scratches in GD-ROM media, let me know! Giga Wing needs some serious help.
