Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I've had to temporarily disable new user registrations on the forum because of a recent tidal wave of Spambot activity.  Once I set up a new anti-spam system (hopefully very soon), I will re-enable registrations.  In the mean time, if anyone reading wants to become a member of the forum, send me an email at editor@REMOVETHISvintagecomputing.com and I'll set you up.

Jeez, I hate when good forums have to do things like this, it stops communities from growing. Obama seems to be a bit net-savvy from what I've heard, hopefully we might have a chance for some legislation against spammers!

One thing I've read about email spammers btw (dunno if this applies to forums), if they are the phishing kind NEVER PUT HOSTILE OR PROFANE COMMENTS IN THE LOGIN BOXES! You may think it sends a vengeful message to these phishers, but what they actually do is take your IP address (it's stored when you submit) and send you a trojan rootkit. 0_0 Like I say, this probably has nothing to do with this topic, but I've just read that and wanted to tell anyone who likes to be a smartaleck to the spammers (kinda like me  Wink ).

I'll fix it as soon as I have the chance to get off my lazy butt and sit down for a few hours.

If that makes any sense.

I don't think it matters what community it is, most are just searched out by finding vulnerable forum software.
