Well, based on my endeavors with the 8bit underground, I am entering into a mode in which I am going to be in perpetual search for collections of disks for really any 8/16 bit system (atari, c64/128, apple2, TI, etc - just not PC and mac really) that potentially contains downloads from the underground scene back in the day - hacking/phreaking applications including stuff like box programs, bbs software and file areas, downloads from bbs's of (then) copywritten games that potentially have "cracked by" screens, etc.

If you weren't into warez and bbs'ing prior to 1993 or so you probably dont know what I'm talking about, but I figured I would put a feeler out here since I've discovered this forum and the associated blog.. this is a great place...

Welcome to the forum.  Incidentally, I've also been digging through old BBS file sections and archives for old graphics files.  It's fun to dig through the digital past that way.

I started calling (telnetting, actually) a bunch of old BBSes recently and by chance ran across one with a hacker focus called "The Edge of Oblivion."  I think I saw a bunch of hacker/cracker/phreaker/underground type files in its file section.  Telnet to it at eob-bbs.com.

Also, Jason Scott hosts archives at textfiles.com that might have some files that you're looking for.  His extend back to the Apple II days in some cases -- definitely vintage.

I also run my own BBS -- The Cave BBS at cavebbs.homeip.net, port 23.

Yes, thanks for this info.  Always a long time fan of that era.   Grin
