As you may or may not have known, we are getting another sequel to the Game Arts PC shooter Silpheed, for the XBOX 360.

This is actually the third version of the game, first was the original which was released on the PC, Apple IIGS, and the Sega CD (which had a kickass flat-shaded CGI intro.

The second was a rather forgettable PS2 game.

This new XBOX 360 version looks AWESOME although Sqaure Enix had to ruin it, by adding a storyline, though this actually may be the NEW Game Arts shining through. I don't hate storylines, but I don't think Silpheed needs one.

And this new Silpheed looks to play more like Star Fox (my fave series) than the Space Invaders clone it started out as, so I have high hopes for this one.

Along with Bioshock, Gears Of War, Mass Effect, Oblivion,  DOA 4, DOAX 2, Sonic The Hedgehog, Rainbow Six: Vegas, PGR 4 and Viva Pinata!, this will be a reason for me to get the Xbox 360.

What do you guys think?

All I know is that my brother had Silpheed for the PC when I was a kid, and it was pretty cool.

The real question is, when will someone release a remake of Thexder? Smiley

Thexder was pretty nifty, I too would love to see a remake, ideally for DS though.

It turns out that they did make a sequel to Thexder, along with a 1995 CD-ROM remake.  That's about all I know, and I learned it from MobyGames.

Speaking of Silpheed, I just scanned this for you, Kitsune:

It's from a 1989 Sierra "10th Anniversary" product catalog.  Thexder is on the previous page, but I didn't scan it.

Nice! ^____^ The sound of Silpheed is AWESOME, the music and SFX are what made that game stick out, along with the pseudo-3D...
