Hey Everyone!

The other day I bought the first AitD game as I remembered playing it as a kid on my friends Compaq486. Got it cheap which I was happy with. It's been sitting here gathering dust and I wondered if anyone out there would be interested in buying it. So I've been searching through different collectors sites trying to find anyone selling the same thing - hasn't happened so far (I think).

The outer box is starting to get a bit tattered around the edges, and unfortunately there's a large '$5' inked onto the front (F!). But the contents within are in excellent condition. There are the four floppy disks, the manual - which is an amusing read, a news paper article which is part of the game play (games aren't as immersed these days!) Also there's a User Manual for the Genius Mouse 6 (GM-6), a Disney Software booklet advertising other old games (also a good read) and finally there's a manual for a 391-386WB CACHE Main Board. It's in really good condition and it looks like the original owners didn't know what they'd purchased so got rid of it.

Anyway - let me know of anyone's interested or throw me some suggested prices

First of all, welcome to the forum, didymus2244!

As for the value of the game, If you can somehow manage to rub out the inked $5, I'd say you could probably sell it for a good $10-15.. Maybe even 20.  Heck, you might get a buyer who's willing to take it for $30, but that's pushing it quite a bit.

Awesome! Thanks Sir Paul.

I really didn't expect anything over $15 but I'm just gauging it. I'd love to start a game collection and I think this isn't a bad place to start. In 30 years this game might be worth $50 Wink My family are all into their computers and Dad has a stack of old junk lying about, so I might be back with more items later

A site that may or may not be useful to you is http://videogames.pricecharting.com/. Also, here's a link directly to the game.

Welcome to the forum, didymus.  I agree with sirpaul's assessment of your game's value.  If you can get off the "$5" marker writing, it may be worth up to $30 if you find the right buyer.

I'm not too enthusiastic about collecting game boxes because the disks go bad over time.  Still, there are people who like to collect the artwork and literature, and that hobby will probably continue to grow in the future.

If you do start collecting them, do it because you enjoy it, not for some form of financial investment.  Those who seek a monetary return on collections like that are almost certain to be disappointed.
