does anyone know how to convert a ps2 controller so it can be used on xbox?
i know you can buy converters online, but i was hoping i could just do it myself.
if anyone has any info on this id love to find out thnx
No, but if you could somehow investigate the way the electronics work in either of them, you might be able to do it. I do know something that might help you, though: I think the Xbox controller uses the USB (as found in PCs) protocol exactly, but it just uses a special connector for the Xbox. As a result, it is easy (so I've heard) to build an Xbox to USB adapter yourself.
Since the Xbox actually uses modified USB ports for its controllers (as I understand it, anyway), you'll essentially be working on how to convert a PS2 controller to work as a USB controller. That might be a little complicated, requiring some special ICs or a microcontroller to transcode the signals between the two, so you're probably just better off buying a $15-$30 adapter. With options that cheap, it's a lot easier and probably not worth your time to worry about trying to build it yourself, unless you're just in it for the challenge.
Thanks for posting, and let us know how it goes!
