Hi there,

I'm the new guy.

I collect vintage macs but i also own some other old stuff: C64, Sun Sparcstations, HP X-Terminal, a Ampex Terminal, a IBM PS/2 8086, a Dreamcast and a bizarre Atari 2600 clone. And then some more.

I'm interested in old Unix flavours and use Unix since '88 i think. My Workstation runs on Debian testing and my Server at home on NetBSD.

Current activities:

- the archival of every mac68k file i can lay my hands on since i fear that bitrot might be a problem in a few years (31GB sit compressed files and counting)
- the cleaning of all my computers (why o why did i start that?)
- getting a SE/30 or color classic with ethernet and a big external HDD
- sell the rest of my macs and some terminals since i run out of space

What else? Oh, i like to roast and grind coffee myself Smiley.

See you later.

Hey there!  Welcome to the forum -- it's always good to have another member.

Sounds like you've got some cool hobbies between the Unix stuff and collecting Mac 68k files.  I've just recently started to try to collect all my Mac 68k files in one place from a dozen or more hard drives in different computers.  They're mostly other people's files though, as I've inherited the former computer owners' games and applications. Smiley

Cleaning can be quite a chore too, and I've recently started doing that as well.  With the use of melamine foam erasers, it goes a lot quicker than I always thought it would.

Anyway, welcome again.  I hope you stick around and chat with us some more.

Hi!

i would also like to introduce myself.

i have registered in the forum, but havent make any post/replies until now (real life took my time). but always visit the website whenever there is a new topic posted. i even put it on my my.yahoo page so i wont miss any post.

i have this passion (fetish?) for old computers. mostly for gaming purposes. anything that has electronics and chips in it that are more than 10 years old, i will be interested to hear from it.

too bad, i dont have the space to store all the old stuff i love, so right now, i'm stuck with collecting softwares/roms/disk images. maybe in the future after i have a bigger house i'll start collecting again.

so, it's great to see all of you, and good luck to all of us!
long live VINTAGE COMPUTERS!!

ps: to admin, what if you make a sticky for all the introductions? thx!

Great to hear from you, arlandi.  I hope you can stick around and chat with us.

I've made this thread and an earlier one sticky for introductions.  So if anyone else out there wants to introduce themselves, feel free.

Hi, I'm also new here.

I'm into vintage gaming and computing, though maybe not as vintage as some stuff around here (I mostly muddle around with the Sega Genesis and my 486/DX2 computer)

I read the site a good bit, and get quite a kick out of it, so I'm going to hang around the boards.

Welcome to the forum, Mr. Ksoft.  No worries; Genesis and 486es are just fine with me.  We're glad to have you and I look forward to chatting with you more in the future.

Me thinks you would have loved the Teradrive.
