I just got back from the thrift store, and per usual, I spent way more than I should have. For some odd reason, this store always has mint condition retro gaming goodies and software that hasn't been opened. For example, a few months ago I picked up a mint condition Intellivoice Module with everything still in the packaging, even the original bubblewrap, and a few days after that I got an unopened copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (macintosh version) Today, I picked up two loose Odyssey2 games (I don't know about their rarity), a LaserDisc player, and...
The Flight Commander controller for the Atari 2600! In brand new condition, opened, but with all the original decals that haven't been inserted into the controller, as well as the game that came with it, Spitfire Attack. I picked it up for $8. Do any of you think it is worth more than that?
That's awesome, sirpaul. Buy everything you can there, as you'll likely never see it again. If nothing else, buy those items up to sell to other enthusiasts as a way of preserving them. Where do you live, by the way? I wonder if your location has something to do with it.
As far as the Flight Commander controller goes, I'm not sure what it's worth. But if it's in good condition with all the parts and the game, then it's probably worth far more than $8 to a collector. (Did you get the box with it?) If nothing else, keep it for your own collection.
And please post some pictures of all your goodies.

We'd love to see your thrift store haul(s).
