To prove my point, here's a listing for the same game, CIB:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SNES-Nintendo-Super-Mario-All-Stars-CIB-Complete-Ads_W0QQitemZ290288950894QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Games?hash=item290288950894&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200

As you've seen: $39.95.

The only thing that scares me more than people selling common games for these kinds of prices are the people that will buy them for those prices.

However that level-headed seller just went full-retard (we can all thank Tropic Thunder for that lovely lexicon addition):

http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Mario-64-Original-Release-Factory-Sealed-PERFECT_W0QQitemZ300263363240QQihZ020QQcategoryZ139973QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64.

$500.

Yes, I didn't type an extra zero, $500. Granted, it's MIB, but still, $500? It's not even a rare game, crap if I bought all the copies from the local pawn shop I could give copies to five friends and still have two for me if you're willing to settle for loose cart! AND THEY'RE ONLY $2 EACH THERE! >_<

Seriously, people are idiots. That game is good, but not $500 good.

Here ya go. Super Mario 64 w/ an N64 system for ~$10 (so far). Sound better? I guess you end up paying extra for the box and everything. Clearly this listing is not geared toward collectors. hehe.

edit: PS. $500?!!? Effing craaaazy! Who even has that much money?

I'm not in the market for N64, it's a terrible system plus I already have one, but thanks! :3

What was cool though was the listing for like 3 busted N64s for $0.99. Most likely the cartridge port is loose (like the NES) or the AC port is shot to shit, but the insides are generally OK. You could take all those MIPS processors and Reality Engines and make a mini graphics workstation, just put SUN Irix on it! Of course, since this version of the Reality Engine is tweaked for real-time rendering, not raytracing, it might not be best suited for that purpose. Or you could make a badass sampler/MOD system, since the Reality Engine graphics chip also processes the PCM audio/MIDI data.

N64 didn't have to be sh!t, Nintendo just has no idea of what they're doing.

When you put it that way, it's not a bad idea. As the other saying goes, "A fool and his gold..."

Oh, i actually figured you weren't i was just showing how easy it is even online to find a better deal for some of this stuff, of coarse i'm sure you know that. Actually, that goodwill site has a descent selection of junk and seems to be pretty untapped. Ebay is way too bloated and that's how people can get away with selling stuff on it for ridiculous amounts. People think it's the only shop in town.

Even clueless idiots wouldn't pay $500 for Super Mario 64. Then again, maybe his copy is 24K gold-plated.

I saw this the other day and laughed so hard. What did they think this was a Nintendo World Championships PowerFest '90 Gold Cart?

I emailed them and got back a fairly speedy response.  ...

The URL supplied in the email is wrong ... should actually be http://www.vggrader.com

...personally I've never ever heard of that website before.  I certainly wouldn't go and pay that much for something like that, but I guess you just have to remember there are crazy people out there who will buy that stuff at that price... Just be glad you're not one of them.

...It's kinda odd consdering how the item description leaves a lot unknown... such as completeness and such...which they go to say  in the email.

The game we are selling is factory sealed and a VGA 90.  If you know anything about VGA, it is extremely difficult to get a 90.  All of the games we sell are factory sealed and graded by VGA (www.vgagrader.com).  We already sold one of these games, and this is the second one we got in this condition.

According to the whois that site has been up since 2007. Personally it looks like it's an excuse to sell plastic boxes to suckers who could easily enough use comic book bags that use a lot less space(and $$) if they're so inclined.

I dare you to go to the game store's website as seen in the email.  Just try shopping for an NES.  I dare you!

Nothing like Actual Pictures of systems which aren't available.  How does that work out?  I dunno.

If you want to see more nut ball prices inspired by video game grading done by VGA, just check out this thread over at digital press:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115443&highlight=video+game+grading

in fact... here's an auction I just pulled up from the second to last page from that thread.
