Well, my Dad broke my DS.    Somehow he cracked the top screen along the right side while it was in his pocket. He promised me to get a DS Lite when it comes out... so, it isn't that big of a deal and maybe I can salvage it and have an extra/shared DS.

Has this happened to any of you guys?

I found a site that sells the top screens for DS replacements, but I don't think it has any instructions on how to do it or anything and they get them in intermittently.

We checked the Nintendo site and they want $75 or so to repair it. Thats why my Dad promised to get me a Lite.

P.S. Do the white Lites get all grimey/yellow-ish after a while?

That really sucks.  I think you should use your cracked DS as a glorified Game Boy Advance (set the GBA play screen to the non-cracked one).  Meanwhile, hold out for the DS Lite.  Then let us know how cool it is, because I'll probably want one too. Smiley

Yup, thats what I am doing now, Its one BIG GBA. My SP is a little better at the job, I guess, but I can still play Animal Crossing (It only uses the one screen for 99% of the game). I'll make sure to post about the Lite when I get it, I can't wait!

Mhmm, it was a good idea,, but I think I'll just find a broken one on eBay whose top screen works. Its cheaper than just buying a top screen for the DS (Believe it or not...) and I can open up the broken DS and learn what not to do to the good/fixable DS.

Lol, my Dad wants to keep this DS and fix it so he gets a DS, and he says he is gonna buy me a Lite. I'm not complaining. =P Plus we could race in Mario Kart together, now.

I believe it was in his front pocket. We went to Hoss's and he said it must have happened when he was sliding his chair and I think it hit something.

Well... the GBA screen WILL work, as its 2"x1.5" and the DS is 2" x 1.7"

so the GBA screen is a lil smaller, but same format.

Yeah, but it doesn't have a backlight, and I'm not ripping out my SPs screen. I'm getting a Lite and fixing my original DS. Argggg, get it in your thick skully, please. =)
