Electronics Boutique Used Games Wanted Reward Flyer Flier - circa 1994Cartridges, cartridges, cartridges.

I found this Electronics Boutique flyer in my old files recently. It measures about 5.5″ by 8.5″ in size. Sometimes I’m glad I save everything, and other times, well…ask my wife.

Discussion Topic of the Week: What’s the worst deal you’ve ever received when trading in used games?

I don’t know if this counts, but about 15 years ago Toys R Us had a deal where they would give you $5 for any used Genesis or SNES game you brought in, no matter which one it was. I went to Gamestop (it might have been EB or maybe Funcoland) and tried to buy the old copies of Madden for .99 cents. The manager refused and basically threw me out, saying he knew I would just take them to Toys R Us. So I called the corporate office and told them he refused to sell me games. About 10 minutes later, the manager called and invited me back to buy any games I wanted, at 25% off.

Never traded in a single game because I KNEW I would get ripped off.

I sold Kameo for 50 cents and when I came back, I saw it on the shelf for $5. I knew I wasn’t going to get much for it, I just wanted to trade it in because my space is limited and it wasn’t the kind of thing I’d play again, so better to give it a chance where someone may keep it around rather then chuck it, but I get 50 cents and they sell it for $5? Why not $2.99, the lowest price I’ve seen them sell except for the Burger King games and Kinect Adventures?
