Name Those Pixels: GUI Edition

March 16th, 2007 by Benj Edwards

Pixel Challenge #11 - 1For a little change of pace, I’d be fun to focus on some non-game pixels in this edition. This week’s theme and hint is “GUIs” — that is, Graphical User Interfaces (ala “Windows”). Name the GUI and the computer it ran on. The first block is to the right, the other two are below. As always, post your guesses in the comments section of this entry, and don’t be bashful. Good luck!

The answers to the last challenge are after the break.

Last Challenge’s Answers

I guess that my last challenge was too hard, because only Brian Beck really guessed anything. But he proved his NTP might (NTP for Name Those Pixels, of course) once again by getting the first two correct. No one touched the third block, though, which was a obscure game for the British dream machine, the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Pixel Challenge #10 - 1 AnswerBlue Print (5200)

Pixel Challenge #10 - 2 AnswerRed Baron (MS-DOS)

Pixel Challenge #10 - 3 AnswerRed Scorpion (Spectrum)

The first one is the GS/OS for the Apple IIGS, and the third is GEOS for the C64

  2. KitsuneDarkStalker Says:

The second is something for the Spectrum (I don’t keep up with that computer all that much) and the third is GEOS for the Atari ST but with a weird color scheme.

Since noone answered this one 100% correctly, I’ll be the one to do it almost five years after the original posting.

    1) GS/OS
    2) Xerox Star/Alto/GlobalView
    3) GEOS for C64 (or GEOS128 in 40 columns)

Congratulations, LocalH. You got them right!
