Nintendo Merry Christmas Ornament NES Nintendo Entertainment System Back Cover - 1988I see great things in your future.

I recently scanned this lovely Nintendo-sponsored Christmas greeting off the back of a 1988 issue of Nintendo Power. You can see the complete magazine back in the full-sized version of the scan (click the image above to see it). In that larger scan, names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent.

Kinda gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling, doesn’t it?

Discussion Topic of the Week: Did you ever receive a NES (or even a NES game) for Christmas? Tell us about your memories of the occasion.

I have a great memory of my brother and I sitting on our living-room floor next to the decorated tree eating caramels while playing our newly-received copy of Metroid together (one with the controller, the other navigating with the Nintendo Player’s Guide).

The year that I received an NES for Christmas was coincidentally the year that I discovered where my parents hid the presents and learned where my gifts were really coming from. 🙂

Not that it made receiving the NES any less exciting. I also received conversions of two of my favorite coin-op games — Spy Hunter and Hogan’s Alley — and then there was this “Mario” game that was pretty good, too…
