And you thought EA Games held the record for simultaneous multi-platform game publication. Ha! Back in my day, you had yer Atari 5200, yer TI-99/4a, yer Atari 400/800/600XL, yer Intellivision, yer Commodore Vic-20, yer Atari 2600, yer Commodore 64, and yer Colecovision. And we liked it.

I used to study this ad as a kid in the UK, on the back of my imported Marvel comic. I love how each version is slightly different – the atari 2600 one has a completely different perspective, and the vic-20 doesn’t even support composite sprites, so the characters have black boxes around them!
Q*Bert was never that big in the UK – I’ve never seen it in the arcades there. The first time I got to play it was on MAME.

I remember playing this on my neighbor’s Colecovision. At the time, the Colecovision seemed to have it together when it came to translating arcade games to it.
I also remember seeing the ads on the back of comic books. My brother used to collect GI Joe and Transformers comics. Parker Brothers had one ad campaign where the ad listed a toll-free number, and nothing else. When you called it, they alternated a series of ads for their game lineup.

Holy moly! I’d completely forgotten what this game was called! When I was a kid I use to play this in my parents bedroom on their old monitor/tv screen. I don’t even remember the rules of the game anymore, I just remember playing it…
So nostalgic!

I used to have the board game, I never played the computer version.
