While the fourth has some excellent gore and a strong internationally relevant message, it doesn't speak as clearly to US audiences and is, if anything, even tropier and more predictable than First Blood Part II. First Blood is no doubt the best in the series, while the third (along with another "soviets in afghanistan" movie, The Beast) is fairly relevant to the current US situation.
