John Linnell of They Might Be Giants Interview on Technologizer

Up now on Technologizer.com is my recent interview with John Linnell of the tech-savvy rock band They Might Be Giants. Linnell and I discussed his personal computer and video game history, how he’s integrated computers into his music career, a fierce Tetris addiction, and gruesome encounters with X-Acto knives. I hope you enjoy it.

By they way — Happy Birthday to Mr. Linnell, who turned 52 yesterday.

I enjoyed this interview. As a kid, and into my mid-teens, TMBG was probably my favorite band, and Linnell was my favorite of the two Johns.

  2. Zoyous Says:

TMBG did an interesting experiment with their series of very short compositions called “Fingertips” on their album Apollo 18. Although apparently there was some confusion around how the song(s) were sequenced in different regions, I think it was intended to utilize the seldom-used (later omitted) index function on CD players in conjunction with the shuffle-play function, to generate different arrangements of the overall composition.

  3. Mattel Aquarius Says:

    I Love TMGB!

    Thanks for the great interview.
